Located in the heart of Catalonia, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, Manresa is the city to turn to in the centre of Catalonia. The geographical equidistance, coupled with good roads in all directions (Llobregat, Transversal, Diagonal and Cardener arterial roads plus FGC and RENFE railway lines and a bus practically direct to the metropolitan area of Barcelona) makes Manresa the medium-sized town with the best connections to Barcelona and its airport, and the most accessible from the whole country. A little over an hour from Lleida, Tarragona and Girona, and less than 30 minutes from the neighbouring county capitals (Terrassa, Sabadell, Vic, Igualada, Berga and Solsona), Manresa offers a range of commercial, educational and healthcare facilities together with the social and cultural vitality and economic dynamism of the capital of Central Catalonia.
Manresa is a city with a long history that has lived through many key episodes in the shaping of Catalonia; having been razed, burned, bombed and looted it has always risen again. Today, it remains a lively, enterprising city with a spirit of innovation and is, as it has repeatedly demonstrated, committed to its country and its people, and willing to take the lead. The 21st century sees Manresa investing in a knowledge society through its university and high-tech industry. It works to safeguard local trade and quality tourism. It strives to be increasingly sustainable and smart through the development of its Smart City project.
