Supporting the transition to a circular economy
March 8, 2024

Science Park Borås will lead the large-scale Circular Hub Twin Transition project. The project goal is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the textile and fashion industry, by combining circular strategies and digitalisation and AI. The projects aims to help companies mainly based in the western part of Sweden.

The Hub Twin Transition project emphasises the importance of digitalisation and green transition by promoting sustainable circular flows – instead of streamlining unsustainable linear flows. The project aims to facilitate digital tools to strengthen companies’ profitability. And at the same time it focuses on generating concrete effects in the textile and fashion industry as well as the furniture industry – sectors that face significant challenges but also great possibilities within green transition.

Some of the Circular Hub Twin Transition proposed activities:

  • using digital technology and data analysis to identify possible new products, services and business models
  • offering innovation consulting to help companies and entrepreneurs explore and implement digital solutions for green transition and circular business models
  • developing a network collaboration organisation for textile producers and other stakeholders
  • promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing by working with innovation clusters and circular hubs
  • setting up and managing the DO-tank Centre – to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their transition towards a circular economy
  • making the DO-tank Centre’s textile test and demo capacity available to SMEs – to promote sustainable solutions through tests and demonstrations.

To support the project, Science Park Borås has been granted funding from the European Regional Development Fund, through among others, the Västra Götaland region and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
