European Social Innovation Competition 2020
January 20, 2020

Applications to the European Social Innovation Competition 2020 are now officially open!

Under the theme Reimagine Fashion: Changing behaviours for sustainable fashion, this year’s competition is looking for early stage projects and ideas that will change the ways we produce, buy, use and recycle fashion, moving towards increased global sustainability and changing consumer behaviour at local, national and European levels.

The 2020 European Social Innovation Competition is looking to support innovative ideas and projects that aim to reduce the overall environmental footprint and improve the societal impact of fashion, help make it more accessible and fair, and contribute to change behaviours in a sustainable way. Solutions should clearly aim at delivering impact, pursue sustainability, and be scalable or replicable post-competition – at the local, national or European levels.

Competition Timeline

The competition is open to entrants from across the EU Member States and Horizon 2020 associated countries until the application deadline at 12:00 CET on Wednesday 4 March. Today’s launch will be followed by a launch event in Valencia, Spain on 12 February, and a series of post-launch webinars with experts from across Europe.

Thirty semi-finalists will be invited to a residential training academy in July in Amsterdam, The Netherlands where they will receive mentoring and support to develop their ideas in preparation for the second round of judging. The judges will then identify 10 finalists and select the 3 winners. The winners will then be announced at an Awards Ceremony in the autumn, where they will each be awarded €50,000.
