ACTE IN ACTION strengthens synergies and paves the way for new European projects
Tecnocampus Mataró hosted the ACTE IN ACTION event last June, bringing together professionals and organizations from the textile and fashion sector representing more than a dozen European Union countries. Following an intensive working session and networking activities, the event’s main conclusion was the shared commitment to cooperate and promote joint projects aimed at addressing the major future challenges of the industry.
Organized in collaboration with Modacc, the meeting highlighted the strong alignment between the objectives of the participating organizations, both among ACTE members and external entities. This strategic convergence sets the stage for the creation of competitive European consortia capable of delivering real impact in driving the sector’s digital, environmental, and social transformation.
The discussions were initially structured around four priority areas: innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainability and circular economy, digital transformation, and textile culture and heritage. These themes served as the starting point for brainstorming and the identification of synergies. As a result, each theme had a different frequency of appearance. The “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” theme received the highest number of mentions, followed by “Sustainability and Circular Economy”, “Digital Transformation”, and “Culture and Heritage”, in that order. Thanks to the dynamic exchange of ideas, additional areas of interest also surfaced, such as “Peer Learning for SMEs in European Manufacturing” and “Partnership Opportunities in Research across the Creative Industries and Arts”. These contributions broadened the collaborative agenda and introduced fresh perspectives to Europe’s textile strategy.
The active participation of EURATEX, the European textile and apparel association, was particularly significant, providing valuable strategic insights and expertise for the development of transnational projects. Its contribution, together with the dynamism of the professionals involved, consolidated the event as a catalyst for new initiatives with an international outlook.
With this edition, ACTE IN ACTION is confirmed as a key meeting platform for transnational cooperation, fostering direct connections between organizations while opening the door to the creation of ambitious European projects. By nurturing these connections, the initiative seeks to foster the creation of future consortia that work for the digital, sustainable, and social transformation of the textile and fashion industry.
The appointment was made during ACTE’s Executive Committee annual meeting, held on June 4 at TecnoCampus. Representing the city, Councillor Sergi Morales will lead the association for the next three years, succeeding outgoing president Ulf Olsson.
I am committed to working collectively with all member regions to reinforce ACTE’s visibility, impact, and strategic value, ensuring that we not only preserve our textile heritage but also innovate for a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable future.
