An advisory programme is being developed to integrate eco-design for Catalan fashion brands, within the RETEXCAT project. A programme aiming to promote the circular economy in the textile sector.
This advisory program includes five sessions/workshops. First a joint initial session and thereafter four individual sessions for each brand. During the first joint workshop various applicable eco-design strategies were explored, as well as the future legislation and regulations within the European Textile Strategy. The sessions are led by design and sustainability expert Ariadna Rovira.
Brand-individual sessions
After the introduction, the brand-individual workshops started. Firstly, an analysis of the product and the brand to integrate eco-design was conducted. For example, studying the type of product, the supply chain and the management and production operations. Based on this analysis, a first diagnosis of the product and the brand was developed for an optimal implementation of eco-design. The second individualised session is focused on the identification of challenges and opportunities of the global product of each brand.
The third and fourth workshops are scheduled in the upcoming months, dedicated to the selection of products and strategies for the prototyping of new products. The sessions also include an approach to the most suitable eco-design strategy for each case. The programme culminates during the last quarter of the year, with the identification of potential products to incorporate secondary material and the selection of the most appropriate eco-design strategies to develop new prototypes of the selected products.
Reinforcing Catalan brands

Participating brands are Systemaction, Yerse, Sita Murt, Simorra, and Boboli.
